The Central Government decided on Friday to develop a voice assistant app to provide e-Gov services to the ordinary people. The chatbot will look similar to Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It converts speech into text and vice-versa. It also have to interact with the public in different languages and have the ability to collect and analyse data to give personalized experience to users.
The documentation stated that it should be able to provide assistance with general tasks, such as registration, login, reset password, department service relation information etc..
It also have other deep learning capabilities, which can be used by for discovering different schemes and services applicable to users.
The proposals were initiated by the Ministry of Electronics and IT under National e-Governance Division for the purpose of deploying it in the UMANG platform which includes various applications that provide Government services to its citizens. It is an evolving platform designed to give Indian citizens access to the pan-India e-Government services from the Central, State, Local bodies and Government agencies on application, Web, SMS and IVR channels.
