Getting admission in IITs without clearing JEE advanced

Students interested in design or humanities who are already enrolled in a B.E. to B.Tech course can get admission in IITs without clearing JEE advanced.

Students interested in design or humanities who are already enrolled in a B.E. to B.Tech course can get admission in IITs without clearing JEE advanced.

How: Students can be apply through an undergraduate common entrance examination for design commonly known as UCEED. 

Eligibility: Applicant must be 12th passed.

Those who pass the UCEED are qualified for admission to B.Des courses at IITs and other institutes. The exam is divided into two parts. The second part consists of drawing section. Those who want to do PG course want have to clear CEED.

GATE: Graduate Aptitude Test (GATE) at PG level can also give a chance to get IIT admission for those who don't get qualified in UG level entrance examination. 

Candidates who are cleared GATE are eligible to apply for M.Tech courses as well as public sector undertakings (PSU) jobs. GATE has different paper for different subjects specialisation. Humanities students can also be applied.

HSSEE: IITs offer admissions to five-year integrated Master of Arts (MA) programmes through Humanities and Social Sciences Entrance Examination (HSSEE). The first two years of the curriculum are common to all students.

After they branch out into the two streams. Allocation of streams are based on the academic performances during first 3 semesters, and availability of seats under each stream.

CAT: Students who want to study in IIT and are interested to business aspects or think about developing a start-up can get admissions to various courses through their management schools or departments. But each IIT has some scales for admission to management schools. CAT are normally shortlisted for interviews and further rounds.

UGC-NET:  Students who are interested in research can apply with a specific professor and give their proposal to them. Candidates who cleared UGC-NET or any other research exam are eligible for research programmes at IIT.

IIT JAM: Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) is a common entrance examination for admission in IITs IISc Bangalore. The students who are cleared the exam are eligible for masters in economics, M.Sc., joint M.Sc.-Ph.D, M.Sc.-Ph.D dual degree, and other PG level degree programmes as well as integrated Ph.D courses.

IITs in collaboration with NITs, students can study at an IIT as a part of their final year.
And also IIT Delhi in collaboration with NIT Srinagar, Warangal etc. students who got CGPA of 8.00 at the end of sixth semester, are eligible for applying for a project in summer or winter and complete their fourth year at IIT Delhi. There students can directly take admission to Ph.D after completing their research based on merit.

These can be done as already an engineering student.
