New technology of Intel will improve security capacity and performance which will help to increase threat detection efficacy on the Intel vPro platform PCs. When TDT is enabled, it will inspect various behaviours of software since they are executed and helps to identify threats in real-time. The company said that the new 11th gen Core vPro processors of Intel are going to have a great influence in the security department where the threats will be protected at the processor level. At CES 2021, the company revealed that its Threat Detection Technology (TDT) is particularly aimed ransomware, the modern computer threat. Ransomware has been used to target various systems for the past few years since they are constantly evolving it is very difficult to deal with it. In fact, threat actors have even used ransomware to target hospitals in the middle of the pandemic while they were treating critical patients.

According to Intel, TDT will be an integrated hardware security feature that will be capable of detecting ransomware when running on the processor in real time. The company has incorporated another security firm to provide the service, according to a report by ZDNet. The report states that this is the first known instance of deploying hardware to identify ransomware. When TDT is enabled, the threats will be identified and then it will send a high-fidelity signal to activate a response to resolve the threat at the software level. At the same time, Intel’s Hardware Shield will provide another layer of protection which will restrict the malware to get damaged and will help to lock down the BIOS to prevent the infection from moving any further.

TDT will be integrated into leading security vendors software to improve security capacity and performance which helps to increase threat detection. Businesses have deployed security solutions at a software level, but the threat actors keep evolving their methods and attack the hardware layer. Intel states, adding this hardware-based security like the Intel vPro will provide protection from attacks below the operating system.
