Water is a scarce resource in the present world. Nearly 1 billion of the world population do not have access to clean drinking water. Clean, safe drinking water is important as it is one of the basic needs and the basis of life.

By considering all these restrictions, IIT Kanpur Incubated start-ups, Kritsnum technologies and Earthface Analytics developed smart Water Quality Testing device 'PADMAVATI'. This device analysis quality by using calorimetric test-strip which is basically based on smart phone technology that screens multiple quality parameters in less than 2 minutes.

There is a nozzle on top of the device where water sample is added and device then automatically completes all the tests. The results are displayed in a digital colour strip attached to the device.

The system is useful to deal with field-level and household-level water contamination as it provide a smart water quality testing device on site and at a low cost. The start-ups have also filed a patent for the device.

Eco-friendly startups like these are very much necessary in dealing with scarce clean water resources to global warming.
