The tech giant Apple has been in the spot light for some time now due to several allegations from 33 US states and the District of Columbia that they intentionally slowed down older iPhones, which includes iPhone 6, iPhone 6S, iPhone SE and iPhone 7. This action resulted in a fine of $113 million (Rs.837 Crores) for the company.
Earlier, many customers reported that when they update to their newest version of iOS for the above mentioned iPhones, it caused them to slow down. The company says that, these issues are not for the reason that many are accusing them for, which is compelling customers to buy new ones, but rather due to some battery issues.
Apple admitted that it had implemented a throttling mechanism in iOS to prevent these phones from unexpectedly shutting down due to the aging battery. The Company apologized for it's lack of transparency regarding this issue, but users had already begun pursuing legal avenues. The company also offered much more affordable iPhone battery replacements for the entire year. They also updated iOS to give users a choice over CPU throttling, all while providing tools to monitor battery life.
