Instagram and Facebook's Messenger now gets a new disappearing messages feature on their platforms. When user turn on vanish mode, messages disappear.

Instagram and Facebook's Messenger now gets a new 'disappearing messages' feature on their platforms. When user turn on the vanish mode, the messages disappear automatically. The messages will vanish either after the recipient have seen it or when the sender leaves the chat. The user can also send memes, GIFs or reactions and it will also get disappear when the user is in vanish mode.
In order to turn on the vanish mode, the user can swipe up on the existing chat thread to turn on this feature and a second swipe up can bring you back to regular chat mode.
Facebook also added that only your connections can use vanish mode in a chat. This feature does not seems to be applicable for group chats and will work only in one-on-one chat.
Another feature of vanish mode is that, if someone takes the screenshot of the disappearing messages, the sender will get notified.
Facebook has added vanish mode in Messenger users in the US and some other countries and it is expected to launch for US Instagram users in the near future.
