Bangalore: Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), an autonomous Institution under Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India has invited applications for admissions to Research Programmes offered at the Institute for the Mid Year.
Ph.D/MS(Engg.)/MS(Research) are offered in units of Chemistry and Physics of Materials (CPMU), Engineering Mechanics (EMU), Evolutionary and Integrative Biology (EIBU) and New Chemistry (NCU).
Eligibility: Applicant should hold an M.Sc., BE, B.Tech., ME, M.Tech. or MBBS/MD with at least 50% marks in the qualifying University examination. Applicant should also have qualified in the GATE/JEST/GPAT or UGC/CSIR-NET-JRF/ICMR-JRF/DBT-JRF/INSPIRE-JRF. The award certificate of such tests should have the validity period for seeking admission to research programme as on 1st January 2021.
Generally ME/M.Tech. students are required to qualify one of the exams mentioned above, however exceptional candidates without these exams may also be considered. Preference will be given to those who have qualified for a fellowship through NET-JRF offered by CSIR/UGC/DBT/ICMR/Inspire.

EIBU: M.Sc. Chemistry; Maths; Physics; Botany; Zoology; Biotechnology; Biochemistry; Statistics; Life Sciences; Bioinformatics; M.B.B.S./M.D.; B.E./ B.Tech. (In any biology related area); B.Tech. (Biotechnology); M.Tech. Bioinformatics; Biotechnology; Biological Engineering
NCU: M.Sc. Chemistry; Physics; Materials Science
Selection: Applicants will be shortlisted for an interview based on their performance in the National Entrance Test and/or academic performance. The final selection is based on the performance in the interview. In some of the Units, an aptitude test/preliminary interview will precede the interview/final interview.
Application: Applications can be submitted online at www.jncasr.ac.in/admit on or before 30 November 2020. The application fee is Rs.500/- to be paid online through net-banking, debit card/credit card.
Scholarships: All the students joining JNCASR are eligible for a scholarship offered by CSIR/ UGC/ICMR/DBT/INSPIRE/JNCASR depending upon their mode of entry.
