Mizoram: Mizoram's first solar power plant has been commissioned at Tlungvel. Mizoram has made its entry into solar map of country with this commissioning of 2MW SPV solar plant. Along with this 20MW solar plant and 5MW solar plant are being currently constructed at Vankal in Khawzawl district and near Saitual town respectively.
Besides solar energy, state is aiming to use hydroelectric potential to make state self sufficient in power. According to reports, construction of newly commissioned solar power plant started in August, 2018 and was completed it's trail in November this year. SPV power plant is spread over 5 acres and has 5,340 solar modules. Solar plant is expected to generated 3 million units annuallly.₹213Lakhs was spent on civil and general components, and ₹11.87Crores was spent for solar and electrical components.
