Yes, it's Elon Musk. His net worth crossed $188.5 billion. Mr Musk, who has spoken about sending humans to Mars in the past - reiterated his pledge. Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk on Thursday scripted history after he became the richest person in the world, overtaking Amazon Chief Jeff Bezos, US media reported.
As per reports of Bloomberg Billionaires Index published on 8th January, 2021, Amazon founder-CEO Jeff Bezos comes to second after a gap of 3 years with a net world of $185 billion. This is followed by Bill Gates, Bernard Arnault and Mark Zuckerberg.
Bernard Arnault, chairman and chief executive of Louis Vitton SE, is the richest non-American in this list. This list is having 8 Americans in the top 10 including Elon Musk
Musk tweeted about this achievement as, "How strange" then also again tweeted "Well back to work".
"About half my money is intended to help problems on Earth & half to help establish a self-sustaining city on Mars to ensure continuation of life (of all species) in case Earth gets hit by a meteor like the dinosaurs or WW3 happens and we destroy ourselves", Elon Musk explains in a tweet from 2018.
