PM to lay foundation of affordable light housing project

On January 1, Prime Minster  Narendra Modi along with governors and chief ministers from eight states under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) Mission (25th June 2015) laid the foundation of Light House Project on, which intends to provide housing to all urban people by 2022. This Mission mainly provides Central assistance through States or Union Territories  for providing houses to all eligible families or beneficiaries. As per PMAY(U) guidelines, the size of a house for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) was made be up to 30sq.m carpet area, however States/UTs have the authority to enhance the size of houses under  consultation and approval of the Ministry.

After proper consultation, the Light House Projects (LHP) as of January 1 is of 1,000 houses with physical & social infrastructure facilities is being constructed at six places across the country namely Rajkot, Ranchi, Lucknow, Indore, Agartala and Chennai. LHPs will demonstrate and deliver live mass housing at an expedited pace as compared to standard brick and mortar construction and can be more economic, sustainable, of high quality and durability. These projects shall function as live laboratories for all stakeholders including R&D leading to the successful transfer of technologies from the lab to the sector. By utilizing the techniques in construction the houses build under the system are resistant against the natural disaster associated with the place of construction.

The interesting thing behind the construction of these projects is that all projects have incorporated some advanced construction techniques.

6.Agartala, Tripura: Light Gauge Steel Structural System & Pre-Engineered Steel Structural System
