New Delhi: Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be laying foundation stone for new Parliament building next month. And planning to complete project by October 2022. Along with that renovation works will be carried out on existing one.
New building will also be having a grand Constitution Hall to show case India's democratic heritage, a lounge for Members of Parliament, a library, multiple committee rooms, dining area and ample parking space, constructed close to the existing one under Central Vista redevelopment project.
Although proposed date of laying foundation stone is around 10th December, final date depends on availability of Prime Minister.
Tata Projects Limited are going to construct at a cost of Rs.861.90 Crore.
Existing building is designed by Edwin Lertyen and Herbert Baker at an expense of ₹ 83 Lakh at that time and took six years for completion. Opening ceremony was on January 18, 1927 by then Governor General of India, Lord Irwin.
