IIIT Hyderabad announced a direct admission process without JEE main for its two B-Tech programs.

IIIT Hyderabad launched a special channel of admission (SPEC) for its two B-Tech programs - Electronics and Communication engineering (ECE) and Computer Science engineering (CSE). The application portal will be active till 10th of May. This scheme is introduced to find students with extraordinary talent and academic background. Direct admission is only open to specific students and further details about the scheme is given below:

Eligibility criteria

Candidates aspiring for admission in B. Tech ECE and CSE course offered by IIIT Hyderabad must satisfy the following eligibility criteria,
  •  Candidates must have passed class 12 with Science stream (Physics, Chemistry and Maths) by July 2021
  • Apart from above eligibility rule the candidates must have qualified for the CBSE UDAAN scheme.
  • Candidates must have completed their 11th and 12th grade in Jawahar Navodaya school.
  • Candidates who have enrolled in a six year integrated B. Tech program and are pursuing their 4th semester can apply.

Eligible who are interested can fill the application form. Link which directs to the application form is provided below. Application fee is 500 for all categories. At the time of new registration candidate have to create a password and an email id is compulsory for the registration.

Selection process for direct B. Tech admission

Candidates will be required to complete the following screening process: 

  • Applicants will have to appear for an entrance exam conducted by Hyderabad IIIT, i.e., SURP (Subject Proficiency Test). 
  • Duration of the test is 60 minutes. 
  • Mode of examination is online.
  •  Students can refer 11th, 12th syllabus for their entrance preparation.
  •  Candidates will be shortlisted based on their entrance exam score.
  • Shortlisted candidates would be called for an interview.
  • Interview marks will be added to entrance exam score and final admission offer will made considering the combined performance.
